• Braves hosting the Shelley Russets on August 30
Football fans are famous for pining away during the month of August as they await the return of their sport. Star Valley fans have noticed some huge projects out at the Braves Field campus over the summer which includes new bleachers, an additional turf field and some track resurfacing. As the calendar clicks by, there has probably even been some anxiety as these big new additions are installed and the first home game draws ever closer.
But according to Warren Hicks, LCSD No. 2 Director of Maintenance, things will be ready for that game when it comes to the bleachers.

Hicks addressed the LCSD No. 2 Board of Trustees on Wednesday, August 14, as part of their regularly scheduled meeting and during his facilities update stated that the press box/crows nest would be hoisted atop the new bleachers this Friday with power, internet and other details scheduled to be finished on August 23.
The two-time defending champion Braves host the Russets on August 30 and then host the Preston Indians on the following Friday, September 6. After these two initial home dates, Star Valley will be on the road for four consecutive weeks before returning to SVHS to host rival Cody for Homecoming on October 11. The Braves and Broncs have combined to win the last ten Wyoming 3A state titles.

The additional turf field had a minor setback but Hicks informed the board the crews are still hopeful that it can be completed by August 30 as well.
The new bleachers are 30 yards longer and two rows higher than the previous set which was more than 30 years old and brought over from the previous high school location on Afton’s 4th Avenue. The current high school opened in 1998.
The new equipment will include handrails and non-slip features.
The increased seating should also be a welcome addition as Braves fans traditionally filled the previous bleacher options and fans spilled out all around the track with their own chairs and camps.
Star Valley is attempting to win their third straight Wyoming 3A title, something the program has not been able to do since 1967.
SVI Media will be streaming all Star Valley Football games here at svinews.com and on the SVI Media YouTube channel. This will be the 11th season of streaming for SVI but the 2024 campaign will mark the first season that the local business will be streaming in 4K definition.
