The Star Valley High School Golf teams were in Sweetwater county to end the month of August as they competed at White Mountain Golf Course. It was a very competitive team race for both the boys and the girls with the local clubs placing third on both counts.

“We had a solid showing in Rock Springs,” replied head coach Kelly Fullmer. “In a nine-team field, both boys and girls teams finished in third place with our boys team finishing five strokes out of first place and one stroke out of second place behind Evanston and Laramie respectively. We continue to see the best Star Valley boys and girls teams scores in 20 years. Our depth makes us very competitive.”

Jordyn Horsley led the Lady Braves with a 164, just three strokes out of first which was claimed by Evanston’s Maddi Brown. Kemmerer’s Tazlyn Wagner was second by one stroke and two strokes in front of Horsley.

“Senior Kambree Johnson was only one stroke out of the medalist top ten group,” Fullmer added. “Sophomore Kate Ricks was able to keep her two-day average at 100. Ricks’ scores, paired without our two seniors, helped us finish with a good 556 two-day total.”

The Braves’ scores continue to show just how balanced and deep the squad is this year with the top fiver scorers separated by just 15 strokes.

“Senior Aiden DeCora finished fifth  with a two scores of 76/78 and freshman Deegan Hill shot 79/77 for a ninth place finish. Senior Sean Stout was one stroke out of the medals.”

This week the programs have the unique opportunity to play a two-day dual with Jackson Hole High School with a round up the canyon before playing another at Star Valley Ranch.

This week we [play] at the Snake River Sporting Club and Thursday at Cedar Creek in Star Valley Ranch,” Fullmer concluded.  “We really appreciate these golf courses making room for us.”
