Haunted Forest debuts as fundraiser for SVHS Lady Braves

• Guests should prepare for “extra scare factor.”

Halloween fans are invited to the Haunted Forest this weekend, Friday and Saturday, October 18-19 from 8 p.m. to midnight at 1372 County Road 144 in Fairview. Proceeds from the event are to benefit the Star Valley High School Lady Braves Basketball Team.

Guests are invited to park and then shuttle to the forested trail, where they can expect jump scares, animatronics, and lots of good, old fashioned Halloween spooks to treat their evening. Concessions will be sold for interested guests as they exit the forest.

“My family has been wanting to do a haunted forest for a while now,” said Austyn Bagley, Lady Brave and organizer of the fundraiser. When Coach Kade Erickson asked senior ball handlers what they wanted to do for a fundraiser, Bagley made the suggestion. “I thought it would be a cool experience for us to do that.”

As the path through the Haunted Forest is long and “kind of rougher terrain,” and relatively chilly weather is expected, guests are encouraged to wear sensible shoes and be dressed for the cooler temperatures.

Guests of all ages are welcome, but parents are cautioned. “We want this to be a more high-paced, scary environment. We’re hoping to step it up a little to give it that little extra scare factor.” Organizers are hoping to keep the trail relatively dark. Flashlights or phone lights are highly discouraged so folks can enjoy “the full experience.”

Concessions and a photo booth will be waiting at the trail exit for guests to slow their heart rate with some sweet treats. “My grandma is going to make fresh donuts and some of the team are going to bring homemade, individually wrapped baked goods.

Folks wishing to support the Lady Braves without leaving the safety of the light can offer donations by Venmo to
