Braves win 4A West meet; Lady Braves third

• Jase Burton tops the boys race as the SVHS teams now prep for State next weekend. 

The Braves had the top team score with a 40 behind a first place finish from Jase Burton. He ran a 15:56.83 to pace the pack. Habtamu Wetzel was fifth overall with a 16:28.29 and Colton Cranney was right behind with a sixth place finish and a time of 16:28.38. 

Brigham Hahn (17:12.85) was 12th overall and Matthew Heywood (17:26.94) was 16th to round out the scoring five. 

Natrona County was second as a team with 64 points and Jackson Hole was third with a 74. 

The junior varsity boys won the team race as well with a 32. Kelly Walsh was second with a team score of 40.

The Lady Braves placed third as a team with a score of 82. Pack running has been a big strength of the Star Valley girls this season and they did so again in Rock Springs with all five of their scoring runners finishing with 37 seconds of each other. Carlee Angell ran a 21:00.72 for 12th place and Alexis Angell was the fifth runner at 21:37.83. Forming the meat of the Lady Braves sandwich was Macy Kennington (15th), Kylee Linford (16th) and Kaitlyn Bach (18th). 

The Jackson Hole squad won the race with an impressive score of 27 with all five of their scoring runners finishing in the top ten led by Madison Antonino who won the race with a 19:08.35. 

Natrona was second with a 56 and Kelly Walsh was right behind the Lady Braves with an 87. 

The junior varsity girls placed second as a team with 44. Jackson was first with a team score of 30. 

State Cross-Country is next weekend in Cheyenne at the Little America. The Braves are gunning for their third straight 4A team title.
