Wildfires in Wyoming
Congresswoman Harriet Hageman expressed serious concerns about the severe wildfire crisis in Wyoming this year, calling it “the worst year” she has witnessed in the state. She noted that extreme vegetation conditions and dry lightning have significantly contributed to the fires. While praising local forest management efforts, she acknowledged the catastrophic nature of the wildfires.
Hageman criticized long-standing policies from the Bill Clinton administration, particularly the roadless area regulation, which she believes have contributed to increased wildfire risks. She cited “25-30 years of bad policy” that has led to excessive fuel buildup in forests, asserting, “We need to be repealing these bad policies.”

Natural Disasters and FEMA’s Role
In her discussion on federal responses to natural disasters, Hageman criticized the effectiveness of agencies like FEMA. “These agencies become so all-powerful that they become incapable of acting,” she argued, adding, “When a government does things that it shouldn’t be doing, it becomes incapable of doing the things that it should.” Citing recent disaster responses, she expressed frustration with FEMA’s delays, emphasizing that “it was all private citizens who came to help.” Additionally, she raised concerns regarding the agency’s involvement in immigration issues, stating, “35 trillion a dime that goes to an illegal immigrant is a dime that cannot go to a US citizen.”
Rock Springs Resource Management Plans
The Rock Springs Resource Management Plan (RMP) has faced scrutiny following proposed changes by Tracy Stone-Manning, BLM director, which could convert significant areas into protected park lands. Critics argue this could undermine local economic interests. Hageman has announced plans to “defund” the RMP’s implementation and has introduced legislation to compel a review of the proposals, stating that recent public outcry necessitated further evaluation.
Call to Action and Presidential Election
As the presidential election approaches, Hageman urged citizens to engage in the political process, stating, “The future of this country is at stake.” She cautioned that re-electing current leadership could lead to increased challenges, and encouraged support for Donald Trump. Hageman concluded by emphasizing the importance of active civic participation, asserting, “This is a government by and for the people and we need to take back our power.”
