The Afton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the Grover Park area on Monday afternoon for a road grader that had caught fire. The call came in at roughly 12:25 p.m.

A responding firefighter told SVI News that the equipment operator attempted to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher but that it wasn’t enough to fully put out the fire. Firefighters arrived on scene and were able to contain the fire before it spread to nearby brush and trees alongside the road.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
