• Proceeds benefit Daniel during cancer treatments
A Facebook auction has been created to raise funds for Gabe Daniel, a recent graduate of Star Valley High School that has just begun cancer treatments. 19-year-old Daniel, the son of Jeremy and Sarah Daniel of Star Valley, was serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Mexico Chihuahua Mission, when he became ill. Upon returning home he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
“Gabe has been at Huntsman Cancer Institute for the last three weeks,” said Jeremy. “Some days are better than others, but in general, he is in a good headspace. We get to see the humorous side of Gabe on occasion and it’s good to know he’s still got it!
“We have experienced so many acts of kindness that remind us that God is good, and He works through people. As we sit and watch Gabe go through this experience and he interacts with hospital staff, visitors and even us as parents, we know God is teaching us through Gabe.
It sounds crazy but Gabe is lifting us through this. We love you all.” Those who would like to show support for Gabe and the Dan- iel family can join the Facebook auction titled “Strong Like Gabe – Online Auction.” The auction will end on November 15 at 7:00 p.m. Those who join the auction can donate items by simply posting them to the page. Others can then bid on the items by commenting with a dollar amount. When the auction ends, the person with the highest bid will win. Further rules and details can be found on the auction page.
Items that have been donated range from baked goods to local business services and gift certificates and tickets to events and entertainment. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Daniel family. Those who wish to donate directly to the family can do so as well through Venmo to @Sarah-Daniel-46.
Before graduation, Gabe spent time with SVI Media as a student broadcaster during high school football and basketball games. Gabe excelled as a sideline and courtside reporter, giving updates from the field and court along with coach and player interviews.
