The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is currently investigating an apparent robbery and destruction of the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) at the Bank of Star Valley location in Alpine.
The LCSO provided the following release:
“In the early morning hours of November 5, 2024, two men, dressed in hoodies and masks, backed a white 2002 Ford F-250 pick-up to the ATM located at the Alpine Wyoming branch of the Bank of Star Valley at 102 Greys River Rd. They attached a chain to the machine and gained access to the cash inside. The men fled on foot toward a dark colored late model SUV and left the scene abandoning the pick-up.”
“The truck was determined to have been stolen from a subdivision north of Alpine just prior to the theft. The suspects made off with a significant amount of money and destroyed the ATM. Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident and processed the scene and stolen vehicle for evidence.”
“The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the community in identifying the suspects or the suspected get-away vehicle, which appears to be a black or dark colored Hyundai Santa Fe or a similar model. If anyone has information regarding this crime, please contact the sheriff’s office at (307) 885-5231.”
The same ATM location was targeted in March of 2023 when a man attempted to gain access using a crowbar or similar tool. That attempt did not result in the loss of cash but did cause significant damage to the machine.
