McClure named MaxPreps Wyoming Football Player of the Year

Smith McClure has been named the 2024 MaxPreps Wyoming High School Football Player of the Year according to the website. 

McClure helped lead the Star Valley Braves to a 12-0 mark this season while the program won their third straight state title in a 20-7 victory over the Cody Broncs. 

He finished the 2024 campaign with 2,768 passing yards and 33 touchdowns over the course of the year. He also rushed for 571 yards and added another ten touchdowns on the ground. 

While leading the Star Valley team to their most points in the program’s 96-year history with 538, McClure completed nearly 68% of his passes. Bryson Nield was the team’s top target with  87 catches for 1,292 yards, a total of 24 different players caught a pass over the course of the season. 

In his career, McClure finished with 4,399 passing yards and 37 touchdowns while also rushing for 967 yards and 14 more scores.
