• Proceeds support locals in need throughout the year.
Star Valley’s Annual Holiday Craft Bazaar takes place Saturday, November 23 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Afton from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the County Extension Buildings. Proceeds from fees go to benefit needy families and individuals in the community. The cover charge is $1 to enter the event.
“We have more vendors than ever before this year. We have 75 vendors,” said Tanya DeJournett. DeJournett, with her sister, Nikki Cassity, organizes the bazaar each year. The pair expect a lot of variety and feel this is a great opportunity to get a jump start on your holiday shopping.
Food will be provided by the Muckin’ Maveriks 4-H Club and the Star Valley High School Boys Soccer Team is assisting with running the event. Both clubs will take home the proceeds from their efforts. “Rick and Joanie with Upstream Entertainment will be providing our shopping music.”
Vendors are expected to offer direct sales products, homemade items, freeze-dried foods and leatherworks products. “Homemade leather products are new this year. We’ll have honey, tumblers, home décor, macrame, wreaths, paintings, baked goods, cookbooks and quilts. Getting something homemade is sometimes one of the best gifts. A lot of my vendors provide that.”
“It’s a great time to get started on shopping, and Thanksgiving kind of kicks that off,” said DeJournett. “This is a great fundraiser for the community.” Last year, the fundraiser provided Christmas for three angels off the Angel Tree. “We try to give all year long and have done a lot for the auction fundraisers throughout the whole course of the year.”
As one of the largest craft fairs of the year in Star Valley, folks can expect to find hundreds of gift options while visiting with old friends and meeting new ones. “I hope everyone can come out and support the 4-H club, the soccer team, and all the vendors. I want them to have a good show. Some of them are crafting for needed money and I think it’s important that everyone have some of that.”
