No serious injuries were reported following a single vehicle accident in Swift Creek Canyon Friday afternoon.

Star Valley Health EMS, Afton Fire and Afton PD were dispatched to the mouth of the canyon east of Afton at roughly 12:30 p.m. The accident occurred approximately one mile up the canyon on a corner near a Town of Afton utility building.

“According to the two occupants of the vehicle, another vehicle was coming down the road at the same time they were going around a bend,” said Afton Police Chief Jason Romberg. “The driver attempted to give enough space to the other vehicle, but because of slick and icy roads the vehicle slid of the road and down the embankment with the vehicle coming to a rest on the passenger side.”

According to Chief Romberg, both occupants of the vehicle were female juveniles. They were both wearing seatbelts and were treated and released at the scene.
