Lessons and Carols at Holy Family Catholic Church

• Join Star Valley for a heartwarming celebration of Christmas through music and reflection

Join in for a heartwarming celebration of the Christmas season at the Lessons and Carols concert on December 15 at 3 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Thayne. This beloved British tradition, which originated during the First World War, invites our community to come together in reflection on the origins and spirit of Christmas.

The concert promises an enriching experience, featuring readings, or “lessons,” presented by our local Star Valley first responders, veterans, and civic leaders. The full list of readers includes Senator Dan Dockstader, Sheriff Shane Johnson, Mayor Devin Simpson, Tracey Martiny, Tedd Jenkins, Julie Buckley, Clint Erickson, Victor Hardesty, and Corinne Storey. These heartfelt readings will be accompanied by beautiful music, featuring special performances by a full choir of community musicians from all over the valley, as well as lively sing-along Christmas carols that everyone can join.

The Holy Family Catholic Church, renowned for its stunning acoustics that enhance both music and spoken word, will provide the perfect backdrop for this festive gathering. Attendees can look forward to a special solo performance by Janet Erickson, along with solos by Isaiah Ceccarelli, Alyssa Herman, Daniel Lechner, and Anson Robinson.

This event is free to attend, and while the organizers will happily accept donations to help offset the cost of printed programs. The readings will feature familiar excerpts from the Nativity story and the Messiah prophecies, highlighting the hope that is the essence of the season.

“We are honored to be working with these amazing musicians and the readers who have been so generous with their time,” said Pauline Marie Zeren, one of the event coordinators. “We hope this event is an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the past year and set intentions for the new.”
