Bridger Valley Scam Call

The Unita County is facing a series of scam calls.

The Unita County Law Enforcement Services posted this announcement on their Facebook page:

“Please be aware of another recent phone scam reported in Uinta County. The caller represents themselves as being with the Sheriff’s Office and says the reason for the call is because the person has missed jury duty. The person is then told they will be arrested if they do not provide gift cards or monetary funds. It was also reported the phone number is being “spoofed” as appearing to come from the Sheriff’s Office phone number, 307-783-1000. The Sheriff’s Office will not make notification in this manner, and law enforcement does not ever take gift cards or payment by phone to avoid arrest.”
