There are changes in administration at the Town of Star Valley Ranch. Mayor Kathleen Buyers announced her resignation at the community’s town council meeting on Tuesday December 10.

Buyers said she will be putting her home up for sale and will move to Utah to spend more time with family, specifically noting her grandchildren.

Mayor Buyers has been a part of 120 Star Valley Ranch council meetings, first a member of the town council and then as mayor.

Over the years, she has participated in several major water infrastructure improvements throughout the rapidly growing community at the base of the Salt River Mountain Range.

With the mayor position open mid-term, the council will meet and elect a mayor from currently seated town council members.

Once a member of the council is chosen for the mayor position, a notice will be posted for an open council seat.

All of this will happen at a special council meeting January 7, when two new council members, Katie Toolson and Taylor Ellis, will be sworn into office.
