Cowboys and Bulldogs Close Out Series on Monday

FRESNO, Calif. (Jan. 3, 2021) – The Wyoming Cowboys and Fresno State Bulldogs close out their season series on Monday evening at 7 p.m. MT. Wyoming and the Bulldogs are schedule to tip-off at 7 p.m. MT in a contest on the MW Network.

Fans can watch and listen to the contest as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The contest will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Reece Monaco will have the call with Kevin McKinney on color.

Notes from First Meeting

The six-game winning streak for the Pokes is the most since recording seven during the 2016-17 season. It also marked the first time Wyoming has won its road opener in the Mountain West since the 2014-15 season. Wyoming has won three-straight road games for the most since the 2017-18 season. Wyoming head coach Jeff Linder is also the first head coach in Wyoming history to win his first three road contests.

Junior Hunter Thompson added 22 points for the Pokes with seven three pointers tying a career-high. He has scored in double-figures in three games this season and 21 in his career. Freshman Marcus Williams added 13 points for the Pokes for his eighth game in double-figures this season. Freshman Jeremiah Oden added 11 points for his third game in double-figures this season. Junior Hunter Maldonado added 13 points along with a team-high five assists. Sophomore Kenny Foster grabbed a team-high six rebounds for the Pokes.

Wyoming hit 12 three-pointers on the night for their fourth-straight game with 10 or more three pointers. The Pokes shot 43 percent from the field, but did shoot 52 percent in the second half. Fresno State shot 49 percent from the field and had a 35-30 advantage on the glass for the night. Wyoming scored a season-high 27 points off turnovers for the night. Wyoming also shot 85 percent from the free throw line going 22-of-26.

The Bulldogs were led by Deon Stroud with 19 points and Isaiah Hill with 17 points. Orlando Robinson added 15 points and five rebounds.

About The Series

Wyoming trails the all-time series against the Bulldogs 11-20 in a series that dates back to 1972. Wyoming is 2-13 all-time on the road against Fresno State. Wyoming has dropped four-straight contests to Fresno State.
