Cowboys host Incarnate Word Wednesday; travel to Oregon State Sunday

The Wyoming Cowboys close out their three-game homestand on Wednesday hosting Incarnate Word in the Arena-Auditorium in the first meeting between the two schools. The contest is slated for a 7 p.m. start.

Fans can watch and listen to the contest as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The contest will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Reece Monaco will have the call with Kevin McKinney on color.

A Look at the Matchup

The Cowboys head into the contest with a 1-1 overall record after falling to Texas Southern 76-74 on Monday. Wyoming took its season opener against Mississippi Valley State on Saturday by a 97-61 score. The Pokes lead the MW and rank No. 40 in the nation averaging 18 assists per game. Wyoming is second in the MW in scoring at 85.5 points per night. The Cowboys are allowing 68.5 points per game.

The Cardinals are 1-1 on the season with a win over Our Lady of the Lake 84-71 and a loss in the season opener to Rice by a tally of 68-53. UIW is shooting 48 percent from the field for the season and holding the opposition to 42 percent. Incarnate Word is holding opponents to 17 percent from behind the arc for the season.

Each Team’s Leaders

Wyoming is led by freshman guard Marcus Williams at 18.5 points per game to rank second in the MW. He also ranks second in the conference behind junior Hunter Maldonado in assists at six per game. Junior Hunter Thompson is second on the team at 16 points per game. Maldonado adds a team-high 6.5 assists per game and adds 14 points per game. Junior Drake Jeffries and freshman Jeremiah Oden lead the Pokes in rebounding at eight per game.

UIW is led by Keaston Willis at 20 points per game. He also ranks second on the team grabbing six rebounds per game. Josh Morgan adds 17 points per game for the season. Marcus Larsson adds nine points per game and leads the team grabbing 7.5 rebounds per game.

About The Series

Wyoming and Incarnate Word will meet for the first time on Wednesday. It will mark the second-straight contest the Pokes will play an opponent from the State of Texas, as the Cardinals are located in San Antonio.

Wyoming heads to PAC-12 foe Oregon State for a Sunday matinee on the PAC-12 Network. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. MT start.
