• Races will continue the next five weekends.

Star Valley’s American Cutter/Chariot Racing Club is well into their 2024 season with races happening this weekend, Saturday, January 6 at 1 p.m. on the cutter racetrack at 1489 Allred Road in Afton.  Teams from Star Valley as well as Rigby and Preston, Idaho are booked for this weekend’s event.

“This weekend, just like the others, we are just going to run probably five or six races,” said Steve Newman, who represents the club, in an interview with SVI Media. “We’ll have the hotdog stand there, and everything will be just normal.  Beginning the 6th, we’ll be there every Saturday for five weeks straight.  The only thing that will stop us is Mother Nature.”

Admission to the races is $5 for individuals 12 and older.  Children under 12 have free admission.

Newman expressed appreciation for individuals and businesses that sponsor the races.  “We desperately need everyone who helps put these on, because it’s a hard thing to do.”

Shriners Chariot Races are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 9-10.  All funds raised that weekend go to support children and families at the Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City.
