Double-Decker Roundabout Coming to Afton

Note: For those wondering or not sure, yes, the below story was very much indeed posted as an April Fools story.

In an unexpected move, a roundabout has been announced for Highway 89 in Afton. Spencerio McNariumcee with WYDOT’s Division of Intersections That Some People Think Need Stoplights But Others Don’t (DITSPTNSBOD) made the announcement during an April 1st live interview on SVI Radio’s Weekday Wake-Up.

“After interviewing a few residents, we’ve decided to install a four-lane, double decker roundabout at the Maverik intersection in Afton,” said McNariumcee. “I know there has been talk of a stoplight coming to that intersection for quite some time, but we feel testing out this new roundabout option is going to be a better alternative.”

According to McNariumcee, the “double-decker” will include on-ramps and off-ramps. “Because who doesn’t like to have fun while they drive? Going up and down?” he added.

In another surprising move, the Department of Tourism is getting involved. McNariumcee said that in an effort to help tourists feel more welcome in the community, both the Utah and California state flags will be prominently flown from the center of the upper level of the roundabout.

Construction is expected to begin “in a few weeks” according to McNariumcee.
