Elderly Osmond woman identified in fatal house fire

An 82-year-old Osmond woman died in a house fire Tuesday afternoon.

The Lincoln County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Ruth Swenson passed away, likely from smoke inhalation. Swenson’s home, located on Happy Valley Road in Osmond, caught fire Tuesday in the early afternoon hours. When firefighters arrived they found the front entrance of the home in flames with smoke coming from the entire structure. Other family members were able to escape the fire, however Swenson was found inside the home by firefighters. CPR was performed on scene.  Swenson was pronounced dead after being transported to Star Valley Health.

Although blood work has not confirmed the cause of death, the Lincoln County Coroner stated that smoke inhalation is the likely cause. The fire remains under investigation by the state fire marshal and an official cause of the fire has not been released.
