Engelhardt part of Wyoming All-Star team

• Wyoming All-Star Team Announced for the Annual Montana-Wyoming All-Star Series

Rosters for the Wyoming teams for the annual Wyoming-Montana All-Star Basketball Series have been set. The games will be played in Gillette at the Pronghorn Center on Friday, June 14, and at Lockwood High School in Billings on Saturday, June 15.

The Wyoming boys’ team will consist of Tharan Archibald (Green River), Levi Curtis (Douglas), Andrew Hanna (Jackson), Eli Patterson (Buffalo), Trey Rinn (Douglas), Joe Sawyer (Cheyenne Central), Sammy Shumway (Cheyenne Central), Garrett Spielman (Sheridan), Chase Talich (Cheyenne Central) and Bodie Williams (Thunder Basin). The boys’ team will be coached by Gillette College head men’s basketball coach, Shawn Neary. This will be the second summer in a row that Neary will coach the Wyoming all-star team.

This past season, Neary’s Pronghorns finished 27-5, and won the Region IX North Conference, Neary was named Region IX Coach of the Year and won his 500th career junior college basketball game as a head coach. The historical series began in 1976 for the boys and Montana leads the series 67-27. Wyoming is looking to break the current 11 year losing streak.

The Wyoming girls’ team will consist of Cami Curtis (Campbell County), Bradie Schlabs (Cheyenne East), Addison Forry (Laramie), Jill Fertig (Douglas), Kamble Cox (Thunder Basin), Alli Ligocki (Sheridan), Addie Pendergast (Sheridan), Molly Hays (Cody), Adeline Burgess (Sheridan), Addy Thorington (Powell), Kenlee Engelhardt (Star Valley).

The girls’ team will be coached by Gillette College head women’s basketball coach Liz Lewis. The former Rocky Mountain College player will lead the Wyoming girls for the second consecutive summer. Lewis recently led the re-instated Gillette College women’s basketball program to a 16-16 finish.

The women’s series started in 1997 and Montana leads the series 39-13. This is the 27th year of the girl’s series and Montana has won the last 13 games. Montana leads the all-time series 39-13. This will be the second year that Gillette College will be hosting the Wyoming All-Star series after it had been in Sheridan since the inception of the event.

The girl’s games will start at 5 p.m. both nights and the boys will follow at 7 p.m.
