EVANSTON (WNE) — Evanston resident Drew Millett, who was arrested on June 15, has been charged with 11 counts of sexual exploitation of children via child pornography. If convicted, Millett faces up to 110 years in prison and up to $110,000 in fines.

Millett was arraigned on Sept. 11 in Third District Court, where he pleaded not guilty.

Special Agent Daniel W. Allison, with the Southwest Enforcement Team of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations, filed an affidavit stating that between the dates of May 16, 2020 and March 2, 2023, Millett allegedly downloaded and accessed child porn using his cellphone.

Search warrants were executed on his home and vehicle on June 15, and multiple computers, cellphones, hard drives, a tablet, thumb drives and data cards were seized from his residence and his person, according to the affidavit.

He was taken into custody and read his Miranda rights, court documents state.

He initially stated he wanted to speak to his attorney, then withdrew his right to counsel after both verbally acknowledging and signing a Miranda waiver form.

The sworn affidavit also states that Millett unlocked his cellphone and began assisting law enforcement in the retrieval of the alleged illegal content from multiple confiscated items, including two separate phones and two laptops.

According to the affidavit, he admitted to having an adult pornography addiction, “which became more hardcore over time.”

He allegedly admitted that he began viewing child pornography when it was sent to him through an online chat group and confessed that he “did not realize his cellular phone was set to back up to the Verizon Cloud.”

During questioning, Millett also allegedly admitted to having viewed and downloaded approximately 40 images of child pornography, beginning prior to 2020 — before the first CyberTip was reported.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for Jan. 16, 2024, and trial is set for Feb. 13.
