Farmer and Rancher benefit concert is tomorrow

Country artist, Brenn Hill, will take the stage at the Ford Theatre Thursday for the Farmer Rancher Con- cert, with dinner and silent auction benefiting Star Valley FFA and 4-H.

The Second Annual Star Valley Farmer and Rancher Benefit Concert is happening tomorrow, Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m. in the historic Ford Theatre. Country artists Brenn Hill and Jamie Nield are scheduled to take the stage for an evening of classic and contemporary Country hits, as well as a strong sampling of original content. All proceeds benefit the Star Valley FFA and 4-H.

“We just had great success last year bringing all the farmers and ranchers together to benefit the local FFA and 4-H,” said Michael Horn, concert organizer, in an interview with Duke Dance on the SVI Radio Network. “We raised quite a bit of money and wanted to outdo ourselves this year. We’re really fortunate to have Brenn and Jamie back with us to put on another great show!”

“These are my people,” said Hill, referring to the Ag Community, in the same interview. “We get out there and we play songs that really represent their life and the things that they love about life, and hopefully inspire them to keep putting food on our table. The VIPs in any room I’m in are the veterans and the servicemen and women that protect our freedoms, and then the folks that put food on our table. It’s always interesting to me how many of our folks that are farmers and ranchers have also served our country. Those are our people out there in front of us. I know there’s trouble. I know what they want to hear out of me, so I’m going to go up there and deliver it.”

Nield, a Star Valley native, will open for Hill with some of her favorites from artists like Ian Tyler and Dave Stamey. “It was so much fun [last year] to come back to my community and see everybody and then help out kids that I personally knew and do a fundraiser for the 4-H projects and the FFA.”

Hill tours near and far with his “Six String Band.” They just dropped a new album called “Horses of War” that is available on streaming services everywhere. “At the heart and soul of it is really…. the people out in front of us,” said Hill. “I’m here to tell their story… I’ve got a song about Star Valley called ‘Greys River Road’ and I’m going to sing that loud. I’m there for the folks of Star Valley – the Ag folks, the ranchers, the farmers that put food on our table. Love them. And I’m here to honor them.”

All proceeds from the concert and silent auction go to benefit the Star Valley FFA Chapter and 4-H clubs throughout the Valley. Horn is pleased to gift these youth organizations with the funds they need for members to receive training that will help them develop leadership skills that will shape their futures and that support advancement and creativity in the Ag Community.

“It’s a pleasure to give that money over to those two organizations that are good stewards within our community and who are promoting Agriculture and ranching,” added Horn. “In addition to all our other great sponsors, we had Wild Wyoming donate a lever action rifle that Brenn Hill is going to sign. He’s got a great hit, ‘Lever Actions Forever.’ We’re excited to have this available through a silent auction at the event to raise some more money. If anybody wants to donate to this particular event, those donations would go directly to Star Valley FFA and 4-H.

Silent auction bidding begins at 6:30. A box meal will also be served at the event for guests who registered by March 3. The menu offers Circle H’s award-winning Wagyu Beef meatballs, prepared by the FFA members, and potatoes prepared in a special recipe by the 4-H.  Corn, a roll and a beverage are also part of the dinner package.

“I just can’t wait to have some more of those meatballs from the Circle H,” said Horn. “The FFA kids prepare those meatballs and the 4-H put together the rest of the meal with some amazing potatoes. I need that recipe, by the way!”
