Former Wyoming State Representative Robert McKim passed away on Monday, February 19. He was 72.

McKim was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis approximately 18 months ago, necessitating his resignation from Wyoming House District 21 in September of 2017. He served from 2009 to 2017.

In a story which ran in the Star Valley Independent, McKim reflected on his time serving in the state legislature.

“I enjoyed my time spent with my fellow Representatives and will miss the friendships made,” he stated. “I will never forget my experiences and the people involved in the Legislative process.”

Wyoming Governor Matt Mead addressed the passing of McKim.

“Robert was committed to service. He was a respected advocate for K-12 education through his work on the local school board and later on the State Board of Education. As a legislator he was highly regarded for his courtesy and thoughtful approach.”

McKim was honored on both the House and Senate Floors today as legislators met in Cheyenne.

McKim served on seven different state committees and three national committees during his tenure in Wyoming’s leading government body, including chairman of the Agriculture, State and Public Lands & Water Resources Committee in the House of Representatives.
