• Applications now being accepted to fill the open seat.

At the last meeting of the Lincoln County School District Number 2 Board of Trustees (LCSD No. 2), Wade Hirschi, trustee representing Area 1, turned in his resignation due to an impending move outside of the district. As a result, the board will be appointing a new school board member.

According to district policy, the person appointed will fill the unexpired term of the particular board seat. Mr. Hirschi’s seat was going to be open for the next election in November. Which means the appointed person will fill the seat and will then need to run for election in the upcoming cycle.

The procedure for the candidate will include open advertisement for those interested, with questionnaires due on Tuesday, March 12 by 4 p.m. Those interested can find the questionnaires at the district website, lcsd2.org, or by picking up a physical copy at the district offices in Afton.

On Wednesday, March 13, a second executive session will be held to select applicants for interviews. One week later on Wednesday, March 20, a special LCSD No. 2 board meeting will take place to interview the selected applicants. The board anticipates appointing the successful applicant at the end of this meeting.

Finally, on Wednesday, April 3, an Oath of Office will be executed.

Hirschi represented Area 1. Candidates who apply to be interviewed will need to live in the Area 1 borders. (Provided by LCSD No. 2)
