Bill Bort

Bill Bort

William S. Bort, 69, of Roseville, died at 1:55 P.M. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 31, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of the late Maurice and Virginia Brundage Bort.

Bill was one of fifteen children. After college, he met the love of his life, Dawn and moved to Idaho, where he worked for the Forest Service. He then moved to Wyoming, where he was a Deputy U.S. Marshal for 28 years from 1983 until his retirement in 2011. After retiring, William stayed busy by joining the Star Valley Search and Rescue, and spending time with his friends and family. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, preferring to be outside in nature with his multitude of outdoor hobbies. He then moved back to Ohio in the summer of 2020, to be closer to his siblings and where he met new friends and would continue with his love of the outdoors.

William is survived by his children, Amy (Ronnie) Bort and James (Brianna) Bort; four grandchildren, Zeke, Andrew, Emma and Jack; eight brothers, Dale (Marge), Lyle, David (Mindi), Phillip, Ed (Dora), Bruce, Doug (Melissa) and Greg; two sisters, Eileen and Lynette.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn S. (Nault) Bort; two brothers, Andrew Bort and Jeffrey Bort; and two sisters, Doreen Matthews and Darlene Adams.

A cremation will take place under the direction of Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home & Creamtory, 1271 Blue Avenue Zanesville, with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date.
