Lincoln County records 76 MPH wind gust on Monday, January 6.

Monday, January 6 2020 was a very windy day across much of southwestern Wyoming.  Schools in Lincoln County School District #1 were delayed by two hours because of the high winds and blowing snow.

The National Weather Service released the peak wind gusts from around the region, with the strongest gust occurring on Mount Coffin in the Greys River area of Lincoln County at around 5:00 am.  The gust was recorded at 76 MPH.  Other reported wind totals from around Lincoln County include a 52 MPH gust at 5:15 am at the Kemmerer Airport and a 47 MPH gust at 9:08 am at Fossil Butte Monument.

Notrana County recorded the strongest winds in valley locations, with 73 MPH winds reported near Casper at 1:42 AM on Tuesday morning, January 7.

The Star Valley area saw more snow than wind, with the storm dropping roughly 8.5 inches in Star Valley Ranch, 8 inches in Bedford, 7.7 inches in Thayne, 5 inches in Smoot and nearly 5 inches in Afton.
