Ogden man dies in Bear Lake Valley crash

A 54-year-old man from Ogden, Utah lost his life in a multi-vehicle accident in Bear Lake County on Sunday.

Idaho State Police said the accident occurred on October 29 at approximately 10:27 a.m. on Highway 89 near the junction with Highway 36 in Ovid.

A 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by a 21-year-old female from Ogden, Utah was traveling northbound on Highway. The Hyundai was preparing to merge onto Highway 36 when it crossed the center line and collided with the Ogden man, who was driving a 2003 Cadillac Deville. The driver of the Cadillac was not wearing a seatbelt. He was transported via air ambulance to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Two passengers in his vehicle were transposed by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital, according to ISP.

The driver of the Hyundai was wearing a seat-belt and was not transported.

Idaho State Police said the lanes at the junction of the Highways were blocked for approximately three hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho Sate Police.
