Soccer teams return to action in Casper this weekend

The student athletes of LCSD No. 2 returned from spring break this week and for the sports programs, the re-start of the schedule generally marks an increased urgency as teams make the final push to the end of the school year.

For SVHS soccer, the teams will be in 4A West action as they make the trip to Casper to face Kelly Walsh and Natrona County high schools on Friday and Saturday respectively.

The Lady Braves varsity is scheduled for a 4 p.m. match with the guys to follow at 6 p.m. against the Trojans. Saturday’s matches across town against the Fillies and Mustangs will take place at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. respectively.

The road trip to face the two perennial powers has typically been a tough one. Last year the trip itself was more difficult than normal with the historically brutal winter of 2023 stretching far into April and May as the team did not play on the Casper fields. The last meeting between any of the teams and Star Valley took place at the State tournament where the Braves upset the Mustangs 1-0 to advance to the consolation finals last season.

Star Valley will host a pair of home matches next week as Jackson comes to town for matches on Thursday April 11, and SVHS hosts Riverton on Saturday April 13.
