Star Valley Health offers open house of expanded Alpine facility this Saturday
• The clinic will offer a Cath Lab, which is not available anywhere else in Western Wyoming
Star Valley Health is inviting community members to view their newly expanded facility at 37 Wintergreen Drive in Alpine on Saturday, January 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. The open house will offer an opportunity for folks to meet the staff and ask questions, tour the new Cath Lab, CT Scan equipment room, fully functioning Emergency Room, and Out-Patient Operating Room, and enjoy some light refreshments.
With the new Cardiac Catheterization Lab, local physicians will be able to perform minimally invasive cardiac procedures and tests with the aid of advanced imaging technology and specialized equipment that allows real-time viewing of the heart and arteries.
“This is an exciting opportunity for community members to see the expansion that’s happened in Alpine,” said SVH Marketing Specialist Kathryn Myers. “For me, it’s been exciting to watch construction of it and to watch it all come together. We had a plan and it’s been executed, and now we’re able to provide these services to the community.”
Though the SVH facility in Alpine has provided Urgent Care and Family Practice services in the past, the facility has been expanded to provide other needed services at the northern end of Star Valley.
Alpine and Etna are “the fastest growing areas” in the valley, “so we are taking the healthcare to the people,” said Mark Tayor, SVH Charitable Foundation’s President, in a phone interview last week. “This is an opportunity for folks in Jackson and surrounding counties to come over to Western Wyoming for medical care. The Cath Lab will benefit everyone in Western Wyoming because it’s the only one there is here. With the Greys River and Palisades and everything, there’s a lot of recreation and lots of people here in the summer, so the [Emergency Room] will provide a great service for people. They’ll be able to have their emergency needs met right there in Alpine, and that will be a wonderful benefit to the community.
Staff members who will be offering services in the Alpine facility include (among others) Dr. Donald Kirk, Dr. Kevin Stucki “and the Orthopedics folks,” and “Dr. [David] Gonzalez with the Cath Lab” will be there. “We’ll be doing out-patient surgeries there as well. So, we’re adding the Cath Lab and [Operating Room] for surgeries and then the ER. We’ll have a CT Scan room there with a big CT Scan machine and fully functioning ER that will be staffed by board certified Physicians.”
Taylor added that “Star Valley Health has invested over $20 million in this facility to meet the healthcare needs of folks in that end of the valley and we’re appropriately proud of the facility and we would love to show it off. It’s just a wonderful addition to the community.”
