Star Valley Ranch announces grand opening of new town hall

TOWN OF STAR VALLEY RANCH – Mayor Kathy Buyers and the town of Star Valley Ranch announced the grand opening and ribbon-cutting event for its new town hall on September 15, 2021 in a media release and interview with SVI media this week.

While the building has actually been in operation since January, its official opening will happen September 15 from 10:00 am to noon. Town council members will be available to give people tours through the entire building and explain how it can work for the community.

Mayor Buyers explained, “It’s been a long battle to try to get a town hall. We were incorporated in 2005, and we had a developer build a building for us in 2009. We rented but we really needed more space, so we finally started working with him in 2018 and finally convinced him to bring it up to code, complete elements to comply with American Disabilities Act (ADA), and sell us the building.”

The town hall, at 171 Vista Drive, houses the town’s administrative staff, special municipal officer, town council chambers, mail center, meeting room and event room. The mail center is on the lower level. Its main level will house the town offices, and the top floor is a large room for public events.

Mayor Buyers commented she was very excited, and that there is already a wedding event scheduled in the upstairs area. She said, “The view from the upstairs is absolutely fantastic. It’s definitely a place the community can rent if they want to or use it for meetings.”

Buyers also explained that the town of Star Valley Ranch has grown 24% since 2010 and is the seventh-fastest growing community in Wyoming. She has issued 34 new building permits since January––as many as the entire previous year.

According to Buyers, there are a lot of reasons people are moving to Star Valley Ranch: there are about 900 available lots in 22 subdivisions. People are moving in from all across the country, not just California but the Midwest and east coast. “They just really want to get away from the city, and they like the tax base in Wyoming.”

Mayor Kathleen Buyers will cut the ribbon on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 10 am. The grand opening event will run from 10 am to noon and refreshments will be available.
