Star Valley soccer rolls past Pinedale

Based on the opening weekend of results, Tuesday afternoon’s matches with the Pinedale Wranglers were mismatches on paper and that’s how the final scores turned out on the field as well as the Lady Braves (2-1)(1-0) dispatched the Lady Wranglers 5-0 and the Braves (3-0)(1-0) routed their boys team 9-0 to open up Southwest District play.

Lady Wranglers: 0 Lady Braves: 5
Star Valley jumped out early with goals from Macy Erickson and Addalee Isaacson in the 9th and 12 minutes respectively. Before 30 minutes had elapsed the lead had doubled behind goals from Taya Merrell and Tassie Meikle. Star Valley outshot Pinedale 11-0 in the first half. Emilee Hokum scored the game’s final goal as the Lady Braves won their second game in four days.

The Lady Braves junior varsity also picked up a win, 5-0.

Wranglers: 0 Braves: 9
The Braves’ offense continues to look stellar as they continued their onslaught from the weekend onto the home field. In Park County the boys team outscored Cody and Powell by a combined 14-2 and they began Tuesday afternoon on the same type of tear as Gerson Lozano scored his first of four goals in the 5th minute. Jantzen Isaacson scored in the 9th minute and Noah Hutchinson made it 3-0 by the 12th minute. By halftime, Lozano had tallied his second hat trick of the season and freshman Brant Nelson had scored as well with a 6-0 intermission lead.

Lozano scored again in the second half and Hutchinson also collected his second hat trick of the season with a pair of second-half goals and a 9-0 score.

The Braves junior varsity won their match 3-0.

Star Valley now travels to Riverton to face the Lady Wolverines (0-1) and the Wolverines (0-1) on Thursday, March 22, with a chance to move to 2-0 in the Southwest before taking off for SVHS Spring Break. The next games for the soccer teams will be on April 6.
