On December 17, Wyoming’s presidential electors convened at the office of Wyoming Secretary of STate Chuck Gray in the Wyoming State Capitol. Wyoming’s electors officially cast their votes for Donald J. Trump for President and JD Vance for Vice President. Wyoming’s electors were Brent Bien, Bryan Miller and Marti Halverson.

“Today’s ceremony marked a historic and momentous occasion for our state, and for our republic,” Secretary Gray said in a statement.

“What an honor to be elected by your peers for this important task,” Halverson told SVI, following her third time to represent the state as an elector. “Our founding fathers developed this brilliant mechanism by which our nation’s presidents and vice-presidents are elected by state electors, rather than by the national popular vote. If the popular vote determined our president and vice-president, 200,000 Wyoming voters might as well stay home on Election Day.”

Halverson explained that she did not run to be one of Wyoming’s three presidential electors, but was nominated from the floor by someone from Sheridan County during the State GOP convention in April and won the nomination.

“Secretary Gray arranged a lovely ceremony in the capitol rotunda in front of the gorgeous Christmas Tree,” concluded Halverson. “Many Cheyenne friends and electeds attended, as well as about a dozen Chinese tourists who happened on the scene.  My sister visited from Fort Collins to share the experience with me. We concluded the public ceremonies with a trip to a Cheyenne Federal Express station.  We chose not to use the FedEx drop box in the Herschler Building as was done in 2020.”
