Not everyone can come out on top at the State Basketball Tournament and that’s the way it went for SVHS on Day Two of the Winter Season’s final weekend.
At 12 noon, the Braves faced off against the Cheyenne Central Indians in an elimination clash at the Casper Events Center where the team came up short, 51-40. Taylor Horsley led the team with ten points as the Braves season ended with an overall mark of (16-12).
It was the final game in a Star Valley uniform for a quartet of seniors; Alek Lawson, Tanner Thompson, Andrew Jeske and Will Johnson.
The Lady Braves then faced off against the last team to hand them a defeat as they battled the Thunder Basin Bolts in the 4A semifinals. A slow start put Star Valley fighting from behind the entire game. The final eventually went the way of the Bolts in a 66-42 score. Abby Coles led the scoring with 13 points and Olivia Muir finished with a double-double of ten points and ten rebounds. The loss moved the girls’ overall record to (24-4).
The Star Valley girls now play the Campbell County Camels at 10:30 a.m. at Casper College in the 4A third-place game to wrap up the season.
