Suspect identities released in Alpine stabbing case

Following the approval of arrest warrants by the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office, the identities of two of four suspects have been released in the case involving a stabbing that took place Sunday, August 6 in Alpine.

Lincoln County Sheriff Shane Johnson told SVI News that Jesus De La Torre, 29, has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Felony Possession of a controlled substance. Also Brayan Aguilera, 21, has been charged with Aggravated Assault. Johnson said they don’t have names for the other two suspects involved, stating that they are likely undocumented immigrants from Mexico. The Sheriff’s Office also has no images of the suspects to share with the public at this time.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning on August 6 when two people were stabbed at an apartment complex in Alpine. The four suspects fled the scene before first responders arrived. The two victims were transported to Star Valley Health for treatment of their injuries. They have both since been released. During the course of the ensuing investigation, officers discovered approximately 1/2 pound of marijuana that had been in the possession of one of the suspects.

Johnson said the suspects and the victims were co-workers and the suspects have not returned back to work. He said they believe they have left the area and there is no current threat to public safety. Sheriff Johnson stated that while the search and investigation will remain ongoing, investigators believe the suspects may have returned to Mexico.
