Teton County Sheriff’s Office Makes A New Discovery on a Follow-up Investigation
When the Teton County Sheriff’s Investigations returned to the scene of an ongoing death investigation they found more than a decayed body in the home.
Behind a six foot tall pile of trash and debris was an entrance to a basement that was inaccessible from the rest of the house. After clearing through the wall of garbage and opening the basement investigators found a large indoor marijuana grow.
The Teton County Sheriff’s Office reports more than, “a hundred plants found, some cut down, some still in pots and grow beds.”
“It appears the entire operation had been abandoned for well over a year,” the Sheriff’s Office said on their Facebook page. “All of the plants were in an advanced state of decay.”
Because of the extreme health hazard by the condition of the home, investigators sealed the home and returned yesterday with a Hazmat level response. The marijuana was collected and destroyed in the investigation.
Investigators say there is no reason to suspect anyone else was involved with the growth and they are still trying to locate any next of kin for the deceased individual found in the home.
