TEXT-IN TOPIC RESPONSES: Do you like the new Wyoming license plate?
By state law, Wyoming releases a new license plate every eight years. A new plate has been announced and will be available to residents in 2025. The new license plate has a much different look than what recent plates have been. Instead of a light blue color showcasing various geographic landmarks in the state, the new plate will resemble the Wyoming State Flag. It will be made up with a red border, dark blue background and a bison in the middle with the Wyoming State Seal. “Steamboat,” the name of the bucking horse that has come to symbolize the state, will remain on the plate as part of the numerals. Also new this year is a push for tourism, with the slogan “That’s WY” in the bottom right hand corner and the state tourism website, TravelWyoming.com, across the bottom. WYOMING is written across the top in big block letters.
During the Weekday Wakeup on SVI Radio Wednesday morning, Duke & Dahl asked listeners what they thought of the new license plates. Below are their responses.
“We like it minus the tourism website.”
“We like the New Wyoming Plates! We will be excited to have them!”
“I like it all but the travel Wyoming .com on the plate.”
“I like it.”
“Tourists go home.”
“I like the new plate!!”
“I like it.”
“Love them!!! Super excited for it. Only thing I would change is the tourism address on it.”
“I just looked at the picture and I love it.”
“I don’t like the that’s WY slogans.”
“It looks like the New York plate.”
“I prefer the plate we have now. But I do think the new one does a good job representing our state. The only part I don’t like is the advertisement to the state website for touring. It seems tacky to me.”
“I hate the license plates we have now. I would welcome the change.”
“Your opinion counts. Who cares.”
“As long as Steamboat is on it I’m good.”
