Lady Braves roll to pair of road victories

◆ Erickson combines for 47 in two wins.

The Lady Braves Basketball team picked up two more wins over the weekend as they traveled their longest outing of the season to Casper and Rock Springs.

“We can’t ask for a better outcome,” said Head Coach Kade Erickson of the wins which pushed the girls team record to
(11-7)(2-1).

• @ Kelly Walsh

The Star Valley girls had a dismal start to the contest, falling behind 11-2 before shaking off the bus lag and routing the home court Lady Trojans. Kelly Walsh had no answer for Cameron Erickson down low as she finished with an impressive 20 points. Kenlee Engelhard had a stat-stuffing effort of 13 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals. Bailey Erickson also hit double-figures with 13 points.

• @ Rock Springs

A close, back-and-forth game in the first half turned into a Star Valley advantage as Cameron Erickson rolled up a season and career-high 27 points. Sheridan Coles scored all nine of her points in the second half.

“I’ve talked bout how focused she is. Coach Erickson said of Cameron “She’s there to play ball and she’s there to win. The other girls are still contributing through assists or steals to getting it to her when she’s open or rebounding; its an all-around group effort and that’s why we won this weekend.”

This week the Lady Braves will host the Jackson Lady Broncs on Friday night before traveling to Evanston for a Saturday afternoon contest.

“The crowd will be huge for our girls on Saturday so hopefully we can play through it, “Erickson said of the trip to Evanston.” We need to put some pressure on their guards and try and frustrate them a little bit. We need to handle their post player underneath. We will want to create some pressure an hopefully create some turnovers.”
