INDOOR TRACK

Many Wyoming athletes competed at the Simplot Games in Pocatello. The top finishes from Star Valley came from Valerie Jirak who placed fourth in the long jump, sixth in the high jump and eighth in the 60-Meter dash.

BASKETBALL

The Lady Braves picked up a pair of wins and cemented first place in the 4A Southwest with a 50-14 win over Jackson and a 46-20 win over Evanston on Saturday. Those wins, combined with an unexpected 49-47 Evanston win over Green River means this week’s game against the Wolves will have no bearing on the Lady Braves’ seeding for the 4A West Regional.

  • @ Jackson

The Lady Braves methodically pulled away from the Lady Broncs for their 28th consecutive win in the series dating back to 2010. Bailey Erickson led the team with 14 points.

  • Vs Evanston

The program honored their seniors as they played their final home game of their careers. The Devils kept things close in the first half but Star Valley allowed just one point in the second half in the win. Emily Dana put up a big game with 17 points and nine rebounds. Makayla Christiansen scored nine points and had eight rebounds.

The Braves saw their 11-game winning streak snapped in Jackson in a 74-71 overtime finish in favor of the Broncs. Max Jensen led the team with 19 points while Cooper Lancaster finished with 18. Kash Lancaster scored 12. The Broncs erased a ten-point lead in the game twice.

On Saturday, Star Valley found themselves in a battle with Evanston, trailing 42-39 to start the fourth quarter. It was at that point the Braves defense absolutely turned the game around as Star Valley started the final quarter on a 20-0 run and put the game away, 61-53. Cooper Lancaster scored 19 and Jensen had 18. Kash Lancaster finished with 10.

With a win at Green River on Thursday, the Braves would claim the top spot in the 4A Southwest heading into the 4A Regionals which will also take place at Green River.
