The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred Sunday morning on Country Rd. 116, also known as Prater Canyon Rd.
The responding officer said emergency responders were called to the scene at approximately 7:00 a.m. on May 1. Upon arrival responders found a vehicle off the road and laying in the field. The driver was found deceased at the scene.
WHP said the investigation indicates that the accident occurred between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m., but the vehicle was not found until later in the morning. It appears the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed, driving off the left side of the road and endowing end-over-end from front bumper to back bumper at least 2 1/2-3 times. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
WHP believes that the driver was highly intoxicated at the time of crash. The driver’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of next-of-kin.
