WWCC Outreach services continue, registration deadlines adjusted

Registration deadline for fall classes is now April 20.

Western Wyoming Community College Afton Outreach Office has closed its doors until further notice. Due to state issued guidelines on social distancing and in efforts to curb the spread COVID-19, all WWCC buildings, including the Afton Outreach Office, have been closed.

“That does not mean that we are not providing services, however,” said Yvonne Putnam, Outreach Representative. “We still return voicemail calls remotely from home as needed. We have our Facebook page that we are updating often, and we respond to email questions that are sent to wwccStarValley@westernwyoming.edu.”

Summer registration continues as normal and summer classes are scheduled to begin June 1 on campus as planned. Fall registration has been moved from April 6 to April 20.

“I will be contacting people that I know will need advising and will meet with them online,” said Putnam. “We will not have a graduation in May, but we will have a graduation celebration on June 27.”

Winter 2020 block classes that had not yet started have been cancelled and refunds are being issued for those. Dates for exams that needed to be taken in office have been rescheduled or moved to an online format. Exams, clinical projects and labs are being reviewed to see if there is any way to complete those requirements while adhering to current state-issued guidelines.

The outreach also has traditionally proctored exams for other institutions, and they have not been able to provide that service.

“I think any time you go to all electronic work when people are used to coming into the office, it presents a challenge,” said Putnam. “We like being available to people when ever they need us to be. We are still planning to be back in business in August and will be putting our brochure together for Fall 2020.”
