Wyoming 3A State Cross-Country to be run Friday morning in Afton

Due to concerns about this weekend’s weather, the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) has requested that the 3A state Cross-Country Meet be moved up a day from Saturday to this Friday. As a result, the 3A State Championship will be run in Afton on Friday with the girls race scheduled for 11 a.m. at Star Valley View Golf Course. The boys race is scheduled for 11:45. Rawlins’ Sydney Thorvaldson will be going for her fourth individual title while Star Valley’s Peter Visser will be gunning for his third.

The Cody Fillies will be looking to defend their team title from a year ago. Their primary challengers should be Star Valley who finished behind CHS at the 3A West Regionals in Riverton last weekend as well as the Buffalo Bison and Rawlins Outlaws who finished in the top two spots in the 3A East last weekend.

The Braves took back the title last season but will be hard-pressed to keep it with a very good team from Lander coming to town after a dominating Regionals performance by the Tigers. The Worland Warriors were the 3A East champs last week. Both Lyman and Mountain View placed second and third respectively out of the 3A West.
