The Wyoming Game & Fish and the Wyoming Department of Education on Monday announced a new initiative that will allow for conservation topics to be taught in Wyoming’s public schools. Three core programs, or “crates,” will be taught, including “Trout In the Classroom,” “National Archery In The Schools Program” and “Hunter Education in Schools.” The Conservation Crates will also cover migration & habitat, management models, invasive species and diseases, animal adaptations, bear ID & safety and pelts and skulls.
During a press conference held Monday morning in Casper, Wyoming Game & Fish Director Brian Nesvik, State Superintendent Megan Degenfelder, Gov. Mark Gordon and U.S. Sen. John Barrasso all spoke to introduce the program. The full press conference can be viewed below.
More information on the new program will be available in the Sept. 20 edition of the Star Valley Independent.
