Sheli Stumpp

Sheli Stumpp

Michelle Faye Stumpp (affectionately known as Sheli), a beloved mother, grandmother, and talented graphic designer, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in Elko, Nevada.

Michelle was born in Long Beach, California on September 26, 1960, to Billy Joe and Carol Harris.

Living in Garden Grove, California, Sheli spent much of her youth involved in sports, spending time at the beach in Southern California and working in the front reception area for her dad at his beauty salon in Long Beach.

In 1977, the family moved to Soda Springs, Idaho where Sheli entered her senior year in High School at Soda Springs High School. Upon graduation in 1978, Sheli attended Idaho State University, where she studied Graphic Design/Graphic Arts. After graduation, Sheli worked briefly for the Caribou County Sun, the local newspaper in Soda Springs as a graphic artist developing advertisements. It was here, that she met Robert “Bob” Stumpp, dated and were married. They resided in Conda, Idaho where Bob worked for the J.R. Simplot Company. This is where they were blessed with their first child, Joshua Bill Stumpp in 1981.

Eventually, the three of them moved to Afton, Wyoming, where she raised her family alongside her husband, Bob, while pursuing her passion for graphic design. In November of 1983, Bob and Sheli were blessed with their second child, a daughter, Megan Anne.

After Josh and Megan graduated, Michelle and Bob moved to Gilroy, California, before eventually settling in Elko, Nevada. The next chapter of her life brought her five wonderful grandchildren—Harper (Josh), Tanner (Josh), Payton & Preston (Megan), and Aree (Josh), around whom her world revolved.

In recent years, Sheli worked at Highland Manor in Elko, caring for the elderly, a job she loved. This position brought her special joy as she was able to work alongside two of her grandchildren Payton and Preston, blending her nurturing spirit with her family bonds.

Sheli found deep joy in her garden, spending time visiting her friends, volunteering and being a part of her community. Known for her contagious laugh and the ability to brighten any room she entered. Sheli’s artistic soul and boundless love left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Sheli is survived by her younger brother Scott Harris, children Josh Stumpp (Misty) and Megan Stumpp and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Carol Harris, brother Michael Harris and son-in-law Jeremy Campbell (Megan).

A funeral service is to be held Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home and Memorial Garden. All arrangements are under the direction of the funeral home at 895 Fairgrounds Rd, Elko, NV. A Celebration of Life will be hosted at the main City Park immediately following the funeral service. All who loved Sheli are welcome to attend.
