On Friday, April 12, River of Life church held its 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Afton. The event attracted an estimated 500 to 600 participants and provided a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere for members of the community to come together in celebration of the Easter season.

More than just an egg hunt, the event aimed to provide a free, family-friendly gathering where the church could connect with the community. Over 500 hot dogs were served as kids scrambled through the fairgrounds in search of colorful eggs.
“Our main purpose is to provide a free, family-friendly event so we have a way to serve the community as an outreach church,” said Stacy Anschuetz of River of Life. “We also want people to remember why Easter is celebrated — to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.”
The event was open to youth of all ages, divided into five age categories: 0-2, 3-5, 6-9, 10-12, and 13-18. Each group had a chance to hunt for eggs and win exciting prizes, including brand new bikes — one of the most anticipated moments of the day.
“The highlight for me was seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces as they lined up, and watching them light up when they saw the prize table,” said Anschuetz. “You could feel the anticipation and the gratitude from the families.”
Embracing their outreach goals and to “get outside of the four walls,” River of Life continues to find ways to engage the community beyond Sunday mornings.
As Easter weekend approaches, River of Life invites all to join in their upcoming services. A Good Friday service will be held at 6 p.m. on April 18, followed by Easter Sunday services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the church in Afton. Everyone is welcome to attend.
