
• District Finals this week in Grace, ID
The regular season for the Idaho District 8 High School Rodeos concluded over the weekend with two rodeos held at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Afton. The district schedule concludes with finals this weekend with athletes hoping to qualify for the Idaho High School State Finals in June.

On Friday, Bridget Scaffide of Alpine placed first in Barrel Racing with a time of 18.333. Brooklyn Brown was third with an 18.452. Brown also finished top 10 in Goat Tying with a seventh place finish, while Taylar Nate of Cokeville tenth. Gracie Jackson of Enta took eighth in Pole Bending. Case Kerr of Afton finished fourth in Tie Down Roping, while Daxton Pope and Kutler Keetch, both of Cokeville, finished fifth and sixth respectively.
For Saturday’s rodeo, Scaffide once again won Barrel Racing with a time of 17.943. Brown placed fourth in Breakaway Roping followed by Scaffide in seventh. Jill Jackson, Etna, placed ninth in Goat Tying with Nate in tenth. Sage Smith of Smoot took sixth in Pole Bending. Ryder and Case Kerr of Afton placed second in Team Roping, with Daxton Pope of Cokeville and his roping partner from Mountain View taking fourth. In Tie Down Roping, Kutler Keetch placed third, Daxton Pope placed fourth, Case Kerr placed sixth and Steehle Pope of Cokeville placed eighth.
The athletes head to Grace, Idaho this weekend for the District Finals with a rodeo on each day May 22-24. After District Finals, athletes in the top 6 of each event, based on points accumulated through the entire fall and spring season, will qualify to compete at the Idaho District 8 High School Rodeos, which will take place June 7-14 in Pocatello, Idaho.
