JACKSON, WY. Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir is pleased to announce its biennial Spring Music Festival is making its return to Jackson, Wyoming, May 4-5, 2024 at The Center for the Arts. The two-day festival honors our collective diversity, bringing together local, regional, and national musicians for a weekend of music making and discovery. Regional and national artists include conductor Dr. Reed Criddle, pianist Stephen Thomas, and percussionist Sang-Yeon Park.

The weekend includes open rehearsals, live instrument demonstrations, pre-concert talks, and concludes with a gala concert on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. in The Center Theater.

The 2024 Festival, East Meets West, celebrates the cultural sounds of China and Korea – nearly 8 million Asian Americans hail from these two countries. Cathedral Voices will perform music from esteemed composers Chen Yi (Chinese-American) and Hyo-Won Woo (South Korea). Dr. Reed Criddle, Director of Choral Activities from Utah Valley University and fluent in Mandarin, will conduct much of the concert. As a conductor and Fulbright Senior Scholar, Dr. Criddle has directed ensembles, conducted research, and led workshops throughout Europe, Asia, Cuba, and the United States.

Cathedral Voices is opening its doors for all singers to join the 2024 Spring Festival concert on stage. The concert concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven’s brilliant Fantasy for piano, choir and orchestra (Op. 80) with Dr. Stephen Thomas on piano. Local and regional vocalists are invited to join the “Beethoven Chorus” and sing this concluding work. Cathedral Voices is actively seeking participants; registration is online and free. Singers have the option to join in-person rehearsals or use an online web portal to practice from home. Visit cathedralvoices.org for details.

“It is important to us, to make this event as inclusive as possible,” adds Laura Huckin, Artistic Director and Conductor for Cathedral Voices.  “Our world has become a very challenging place to live, and at times quite divisive and disconnected. We’re removing the barrier between audience and artist, and inviting friends and neighbors to stand beside us in song.”

Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir inspires harmony and community through musical excellence in performance, education and outreach. Our 2023/2024 Season is entitled The Chorus of Humanity—where every person is heard, understood, seen, and valued. This season explores the power of the global chorus and the need for Belonging.
