The Salt River Symphony and Chorus are calling for musicians and vocalists to participate in several approaching performances. The Salt River Arts Society has scheduled a musical event at least once each quarter throughout the 2025-26 season.
Instrumentalists are invited to join the symphony for a Masters Concert on Monday, October 6 at 7 p.m. The program that night features Arita Acton Justus from Bedford on Viola playing Johann Hummel’s Potpourri for Viola and Orchestra and Beethoven’s Symphony #1.
“We are in need of wind and brass players and especially string players,” says Charity Williams, who is slated to conduct the symphony for this performance. “At least high school level playing experience is strongly advised.” Rehearsals for this performance are held each Monday 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Ford Theatre.
The Salt River Chorus is also welcoming vocalists for the Off-Broadway concert scheduled for the Thayne Community Center stage on Monday, October 13 at 7 p.m. Rehearsals for this program are Sundays 4-5:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
“We are singing old and new Broadway favorites as well as giving a preview of Salt River Community Theater’s fall musical,” Williams adds. “Teens and older children with a parent present, are welcome to join us.”
Salt River Arts Society is thrilled to continue the 50-year tradition of bringing Handel’s “Messiah” to Star Valley in December and expects to celebrate Easter with the 2nd Annual Easter Celebration. In June, the symphony plans to be part of Afton’s Freedom Festival with a Pops Concert, and the chorus anticipates kicking off July 4th celebrations with a Patriotic Concert on June 29, which is the Monday before Independence Day.
“If you sing or play an instrument we have a place for you,” says Williams. Join us for as much as you can.”
