
The 2025-26 High School Rodeo season began last month with two rodeos in Grace, Idaho on August 23 and two more rodeos in Montpelier, Idaho on August 30. The four rodeos wrap up the brief fall schedule, with the season resuming in the spring.
Local high school athletes sitting in the top 5 of the standings after the first four rodeos include Bridget Scaffide of Alpine who is on top in Barrel Racing with a total of 37 points, good enough for 1st place. Zoey Mendenhall of Afton is in 3rd with 26 points. Mendenhall also sits in the top five in Pole Bending with 19 points, good enough for 5th place in the standings. Cokeville’s Taylar Nate sits in 3rd place in the event with 25 points.
On the boys side, Ross Hilton of Afton and his roping partner Kruz Smith from Montpelier currently sit in 1st place in Team Roping with 29 points, followed closely by Case and Ryder Kerr of Afton in 2nd place with 26 points. Ryder Kerr is also 3rd in Tie Down Roping with 26 points and Case Kerr is 5th with 20 points.
The points earned in the fall will roll over to the spring season, which is scheduled to begin April 24 in Marsh Valley. District 8 comes to the Lincoln County Fairgrounds for two rodeos on May 15 and 16. The District Finals will be held the following weekend in Montpelier May 21-23.
