I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion. From what I know, the pattern described (sorry, I didn’t catch which participant said this) where you can partner with a pair of AI assistants — say Claude and ChatGPT — and use them as consultants to discuss a problem, is a very powerful tool. With hallucinations being part of the mix, having Claude vet ChatGPT’s output, and vice versa, your team closes in on an accurate comprehensive solution with remarkable speed. I have a good friend who develops sophisticated software this way. John is the Manager, Designer, Project Director, or as he puts it, “the adult in the room”. He directs the efforts of two highly effective developers who do the grunt work. And that, I suggest, is the crux of understanding how AI assistance is so valuable. It’s not taking over with high-level education and knowledge. It’s handling the tedious grunt work at a level and pace that can’t be matched by the fastest coder.
If you aren’t incorporating AI into your work today, your replacement will do so tomorrow.
