• GoFundMe page and local options available to aid in recovery

A regional motorsports rider was seriously injured in an accident over the weekend. Blaine Mathews was injured while riding his dirt bike in Riverton on April 18. He sustained major injuries.

A friend, Trevor Wiese, started a GoFundMe page to help Mathews who is expected to miss work for quite some time as he heals.

“He knows this is always a risk of the sport and would not want any attention,” Weise stated on the page. “However, we want to help support him, Piper and his family through this time of need.”

Melinda Unger with Star Valley Ski-Doo told SVI that those wishing to donate directly can do so at their store location in Thayne.

“He’s lived here and supported Star Valley and supported everybody and he has a lot of friends here,” she noted. “People can donate cash or check at Star Valley Ski-Doo and we will see that it gets to them. It’s going to be a long road to recovery. ”

As of print deadline, a total of $45,197 had been raised as part of a $100,000 goal for Mathews on the page.
